Scripture: Matthew 5:6: Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. - NRSV
Abridged Meditation: Our preconceived ideas of answers to prayer will only hinder the solution God knows our spirit actually needs.
Meditation:
The surest way to receive an answer to our prayer, as God has promised, is to have absolutely no idea of what the answer ought to be. If we ask God to answer our prayer with a preconceived solution to a problem, we are expecting God to conform to our plan rather than the other way around. Until we approach God in prayer with an entirely open heart and mind, having no desire or thought of our own other than increasing divine love in the world, our prayers remain little more than wishful thinking. To receive an answer to our prayer according to Gods desire, and have that answer satisfy the deepest desire of our soul, we must move beyond all of our preconceived notions so that our spirit can recognize the divine beauty of the answer that will surely come. It is only a hungry and thirsty human mind and heart that can receive a divine answer to prayer and thus be filled by Gods Holy Spirit. All of our preconceived ideas of answers to prayer will only hinder the solution our spirit actually needs.
Prayer: If we are to have wisdom, Source of Truth, let it be nothing more than a reflection of your Word. Every minute particle of your Everlasting Love will blaze like a torrent of fire in the midst of the sea of human thought. You are the still small voice of love in the mighty flow of eternity. Let us swim in the ocean of your Divine Being, O God, and satisfy the people who thirst for wisdom, justice, and truth. In your mercy, Holy One, let us live, learn, and teach. Amen
